A1 Centre develops operating system for Ukrainian Armed Forces
The 'A1' Artificial Intelligence Centre at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is developing the SPECTR platform for analysing battlefield data and planning military operations. The new system is currently being tested by several combat units. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The development aims to systematise large volumes of combat data and minimise routine paperwork in military headquarters. The platform processes live operational data, identifies patterns, and generates recommendations for command decisions.
The software suite includes features for modelling enemy moves and evaluating the effectiveness of response scenarios. The system is designed to integrate into existing Defence Forces networks as well as run on isolated devices handling sensitive data.
Integrating Artificial Intelligence into the Military
“In fact, we are building an operating system for warfare that will help the military select effective courses of action and predict potential enemy moves,” said Danylo Tsvok, head of the ‘A1’ AI Centre.
He noted that the modern warfare data gathered by Ukrainian forces will provide a tangible battlefield advantage, with all processed information remaining strictly within a secure perimeter.
Building an AI-Driven Army
The specialised ‘A1’ Centre was established in March 2026 with support from the UK government. The unit’s primary mission is to integrate artificial intelligence into digital command systems and weaponry.
The centre’s operations focus on accelerating data-driven decision-making, applying AI to strike systems, and reducing bureaucracy within the armed forces. Specialists are currently working on three flagship defence technology projects.
