No system of penalty points for drivers has been introduced in Ukraine starting from 2026, and the data being circulated online is unreliable. This was announced by the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksii Biloshytskyi. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, based on data from Patrol Police Department.
False information about the alleged launch of a new punishment mechanism for vehicle owners is actively spreading on the internet. Law enforcement agencies emphasize that such reports do not correspond to the real situation on the country’s roads.
Legislative initiatives regarding points
Several specialized initiatives are currently under consideration by the Ukrainian parliament. They were developed taking into account foreign experience and are aimed at potentially resolving this issue in the future.
However, no final decisions have yet been made by relevant departments or government structures. Any innovations in this area will become possible only after completing the full adoption cycle of the relevant regulatory acts.
Appeal to citizens
«Currently, there are a number of bill drafts designed to regulate this issue and introduce penalty points in the future following the advanced experience of foreign countries. However, for now, this issue is under review, and penalty points have not been introduced! We will certainly inform the public in advance about such large-scale innovations,» emphasized Oleksii Biloshytskyi.
Representatives of the agency urge internet users to rely exclusively on verified reports from official structures. Citizens are asked not to spread unverified data from anonymous sources.
