Russian drone hit South Bridge in Kyiv during metro train movement

The explosion occurred on the bridge span as the metro was heading to Vydubychi station

A Russian drone attacked the South Bridge in Kyiv on October 1, 2026, striking a fence near a moving metro train. Passengers were unharmed, and the train successfully reached the station. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The incident took place while the train was crossing the bridge span, when passengers heard a powerful explosion followed by smoke filling the carriages. Despite the emergency, the driver decided to continue the journey, allowing the safe evacuation of passengers at Vydubychi station on the right bank.

Consequences of the South Bridge strike

Eyewitness accounts released online indicate damage to the rolling stock, including shattered windows in one of the metro carriages. Information regarding the condition of the train itself and the extent of damage to the bridge structure is currently being verified by experts.

Other consequences of the attack on the capital

On the night of October 1, the russian federation launched a large-scale attack on Kyiv, leaving a civilian man injured in the Solomianskyi district. According to the State Emergency Service, a fire was reported on the ground floor of a 16-story residential building in the same district, alongside burning parked cars.

Strike on civilian infrastructure

In addition to the infrastructure facility, an enemy drone hit a school building in the Solomianskyi district. Video footage has been released showing the moment of the targeted russian strike on the educational institution on October 1, 2026.
