Defense forces neutralized 88 hostile drones overnight
Overnight into October 2, Ukrainian air defense neutralized 88 strike and decoy drones out of 108 launched by Russian forces in an attack against the country from multiple directions. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The large-scale air assault began on the evening of October 1 at 18:00. The adversary deployed a total of 108 air attack weapons, including Shahed strike drones, with 47 of them being jet-powered, as well as Gerbera UAVs and Parody decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from Russian regions, specifically Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea, near Hvardiiske.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, along with mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, repelled the attack. As of 08:00, air defense forces recorded the downing or suppression of 88 enemy aerial vehicles.
At the same time, enemy air attack impacts were recorded at 11 locations. Additionally, the fall of wreckage from intercepted aerial targets was registered at five sites.
At the time of preparing the briefing, the enemy’s air attack was still ongoing. Several hostile UAVs remained active within the country’s airspace.
