At least three officers prepared missile strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure
Four senior officers were on board a Tu-95MS strategic bomber that crashed in Russia. Two lieutenant colonels and two majors have been identified among them. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Crimean Wind.
The Russian strategic bomber crashed on 29 September in Amur Oblast. The aircraft was performing a flight in a region home to military airfields of Russia’s strategic aviation.
According to OSINT analysts, high-ranking military pilots were on board the aircraft. Two lieutenant colonels and two majors of the Russian Air Force were identified among the crew personnel.
Crew involvement in strikes on Ukraine
Analysts noted that at least three of these officers were directly involved in organising and preparing the launches of air-based cruise missiles. They participated in planning attacks on Ukrainian territory.
The main targets of the missile strikes involving these officers were Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure facilities. Russian strategic aviation systematically uses air-launched missiles for such attacks.
