Ukraine Has Disabled Over 51% of Russia’s Oil Refining Capacity

The large-scale destruction of fuel infrastructure weakens the enemy's war machine

Ukrainian defense forces have successfully disabled more than 51% of the Russian Federation's oil refining capacity. The Ministry of Defence reports a systematic strategy to deplete the aggressor's military and economic potential. This was reported by Ukrinform citing the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Data analysis conducted by intelligence and General Staff specialists confirms a critical decline in the capabilities of the Russian oil refining industry. As emphasized by the head of the defense department, Yevhenii Khmara, the result achieved is the consequence of systematic long-range operations aimed at exhausting the resources of the Russian army.

Geography of Hit Energy Facilities

The list of damaged industrial sites includes the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Perm, Ilsky, Saratov, and Syzran oil refineries. Additionally, the Kirishinefteorgsintez enterprise and the oil refinery in Ust-Luga sustained significant damage.

Officials note that the effect of such attacks is cumulative and long-term, as they are aimed not only at stopping production but also at undermining the logistical support for Russian troop formations. The loss of half of the refining capacity significantly limits the enemy’s maneuverability on the battlefield.

Scaling Up Weapons Production

The primary tool for implementing this strategy remains long-range strike drones, the production of which in Ukraine has tripled over the current year. The Ministry of Defence continues to invest in increasing capabilities for striking targets behind Russian lines.

It should be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously emphasized intentions to intensify strikes against the enemy’s energy infrastructure. This decision was made in response to the Russian military’s systematic attacks on Ukraine’s civilian facilities.
