International Network of Investment Fraudsters Dismantled in Europe with Seven Arrested

Financial damages caused by the fraudsters exceed four million euros

Law enforcement agencies in Europe have carried out an international operation against an investment fraud network, detaining seven suspects. Supported by Eurojust and Europol, the special operation dismantled over 100 servers and raided 17 locations. This was reported by Eurojust citing Europol, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The investigation began after a German couple appealed to authorities, having lost their savings to a fake online platform. The fraudsters lured money under the guise of profitable investments in cryptocurrency, stocks, and foreign exchange. Victims were shown fabricated profits and then pressured psychologically into investing larger amounts.

Details of the Criminal Scheme

When investors tried to withdraw their funds, the perpetrators used various delaying tactics and eventually cut off all communication. Initial arrests took place earlier during previous stages of the investigation, which lasted for over four years. Analysis of the gathered evidence helped authorities identify the organizers and call center managers who maintained the network.

Law Enforcement Coordination

The investigation uncovered a Cyprus- and Israel-based company providing services in a crime-as-a-service format. This structure supplied other criminal groups with specialized websites to execute online fraud. Similar services were utilized by operators based in Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

Aftermath of the International Operation

During the final phase of the special operation, law enforcement agencies conducted searches in several countries and seized over one hundred servers. The detained individuals are planned to be handed over to the German side for further extradition proceedings. Overall, estimated losses from the network’s activities exceed four million euros.
