The Defence Procurement Agency DOT has ordered buggies for the first time — over 2,000 units for the Armed Forces
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, through the Defence Procurement Agency DOT, has contracted over 2,000 buggies for the Armed Forces. The tender resulted in savings of approximately UAH 1.5 billion. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The Defence Procurement Agency DOT has contracted buggies for the first time for the Armed Forces — over 2,000 units. The tender resulted in savings of approximately UAH 1.5 billion. Thus, through tender procedures, resources are used more efficiently, directing saved funds to other military needs.
According to Mykhailo Banik, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, the buggies are full-drive vehicles (4×4), with the ability to switch on and off, equipped with high-mobility tires.
Buggies are light, mobile transport for off-road use. They are fast and maneuverable, allowing units to move where heavy equipment gets stuck or becomes too visible.
Artem Romaniuk, acting director of the Defence Procurement Agency DOT, stated that the goal is to equip the military with necessary gear while using budget funds efficiently. This requires fostering competition among suppliers and creating conditions for diverse manufacturers to participate.
Buggies are used for the following tasks:
— casualty evacuation: medics use the vehicle’s smooth ride to approach positions closely;
— delivering ammunition, rations, fuel, and equipment to remote positions;
— conducting reconnaissance and patrolling, as buggies move quietly and are mobile;
— rapid deployment of small infantry groups and drone operators.
Such acquisitions expand the Armed Forces’ capabilities in using maneuverable transport and enhance unit mobility.
The Defence Procurement Agency DOT conducted competitive procurement via Prozorro, dividing it into 11 separate lots. Suppliers competed, and the Agency selected the most advantageous offers.
Suppliers are to deliver almost all contracted vehicles by December 2026.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is gradually implementing competitive tender procedures in defence procurement to make them more transparent and spending more efficient. As a result, the military will receive better-quality supplies, and manufacturers will grow through competition and procurement predictability.
