This is the second major infrastructure facility in the capital damaged by the enemy in recent weeks
The North Bridge in the Ukrainian capital sustained damage as a result of a nighttime strike by Russian forces. Traffic across the bridge is currently fully suspended in both directions. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Катерина Коваль) citing Vitali Klitschko, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the forced traffic restriction. Specialized technical teams have begun assessing the structural integrity to determine the severity of the damage and the safety of the facility for future use.
The North Bridge serves as a vital logistics artery connecting the right and left banks of the Dnipro River. Officials have not yet provided a timeline for repair works or the resumption of traffic.
Incidents with Dnipro River crossings
This is not the first instance of transport infrastructure destruction in Kyiv caused by enemy attacks recently. Previously, on the night of October 27, the South Bridge was struck, resulting in damage to both the bridge and the metro line crossing it.
At that time, the aggressor employed a series of ballistic missiles, specifically Iskander-M or S-400 types. A total of 16 munitions were used during that strike, according to Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force.
Those earlier attacks resulted in a prolonged closure of the South Bridge, with defense officials warning that extensive and time-consuming repairs would be required to restore the road surface.
