Which category of Ukrainians has the right to retire based on years of service

The conditions for registration, retirement age and the amount of payments depend on the profession and the norms of current legislation.

Not all Ukrainians need to wait 60 or 65 years to apply for a pension. For certain professions, the right to a retirement pension is provided – it can be assigned earlier if there is a special length of service. This is reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine, writes Uaportal. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

This type of pension is assigned to citizens who worked in positions that over time lead to loss of professional ability to work or make it impossible to continue working. The conditions for registration, retirement age and the amount of payments depend on the profession and the norms of current legislation.

The main condition is the presence of special length of service in positions that give the right to such a pension. Payments are assigned after dismissal from the relevant job and are financed from the state budget.

In some cases, a retirement pension can be issued regardless of age.

Categories of Ukrainians who have such a right

According to the PFU, a pension for long service can be received by:

artists – with creative experience from 20 to 35 years;

aviation and flight test personnel – subject to the necessary special experience;

education, health care and social workers – with the experience established by law;

athletes – if they have at least 25 years of experience and have been part of the national teams of Ukraine for at least 6 years.

Who can retire earlier after reaching a certain age

After reaching the age specified by law, the following also have the right to a pension for long service:

air traffic controllers;

civil aviation engineering and technical personnel;

flight attendants;

railway transport and metro workers;

field and geological exploration workers;

logging and timber industry workers;

machine operators and docker-machine operators;

workers of the sea, river and fishing fleet.

How is the amount of payments determined

The amount of the pension is calculated individually. It depends on the length of service and the salary from which insurance contributions were paid.

The pension is assigned from the date of application, if the person has resigned from the position that gives the right to such payments.

When can they refuse

The application can be refused if:

the person has not reached the established age (if it is provided for);

the required special experience is missing;

there are no documents confirming work in the relevant positions.

The Pension Fund also reminds: if a pensioner again gets a job that gives the right to a pension for years of service, the pension payment for this period is stopped.
