The Territorial Defense Forces “South” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched large-scale preparation of Odessa for a perimeter defense. The construction of multi-kilometer anti-tank ditches and dugouts around the city is already in the final stage, and the installation of barbed wire and “dragon teeth” is also underway. This work should maximally strengthen the defense of the entire region and reduce the risks in the event of an attack by the occupiers from the sea or land. Footage of the construction of these fortifications was published on Facebook by the Forces of the Territorial Defense Unit “South”, according to the PromPolitInform portal.
The video shows engineers setting up defensive lines and additionally installing anti-personnel “confusion” nets.
“Odessa is being prepared for a perimeter defense!” — the department noted.
The military emphasizes that such actions are not just a demonstration of strength or bravado. This is an important preemptive work that should thwart the plans of the occupiers.
The main task of the defenders is to deprive the enemy of any illusions about the success of a potential landing. Any attempt to storm the city under such conditions will be doomed to a quick defeat in advance.
“Reliable defense does not increase, but rather reduces the risk that the enemy will move here in the foreseeable future!” — the TRO concluded.
