President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine should maximize its strength by August and prepare for possible Russian actions in the fall. Ukraine is preparing for August
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he held a special meeting of the Headquarters following the results of several days of communication with corps commanders performing key combat missions.
The main topic of the meeting was the preparation of the Defense Forces for August and further possible Russian actions in the fall.
According to the head of state, Ukraine should enter next month maximally strengthened. To this end, work continues on adjusting the defense strategy, as well as determining the priority areas of production and supply of weapons for the army.
New format of work
Zelensky noted that for the first time in such a format, a direct meeting of corps commanders, representatives of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance and special services took place.
The meeting was attended by the commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commanders of the 10th, 11th and 19th army corps, as well as the Charter and Azov units. Together with manufacturers, they discussed practical issues that arise directly at the front.
The main attention was paid to the provision of troops, problems with procurement, additional financing and the conclusion of contracts. The meeting was about the supply of various types of drones, ground robotic complexes, long-range artillery ammunition and other equipment needed on the most tense sections of the front.
Following the meeting, a decision was made to make this format of interaction regular. Coordination between the corps, manufacturers and state structures will be carried out by the Ministry of Defense and the National Security and Defense Council.
Weapons deficiencies will be corrected
Separately, the participants of the Headquarters considered information about the deficiencies of individual samples of weapons and equipment identified in combat units. Zelensky stressed that manufacturers should receive such feedback and promptly eliminate the identified problems.
The President also announced that the next day he would hold similar meetings with other corps commanders in order to receive an assessment from the entire corps system of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Priorities before autumn
In addition to issues of weapons production, the meeting discussed strengthening air defense and tasks for Ukrainian diplomacy.
Summing up, Zelensky stressed the need to maximize the country’s defense capabilities by August so that Ukraine is ready for various scenarios and Russian actions in the fall.
He also thanked the Ukrainian military, arms manufacturers, and everyone who helps strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
