In the coming months, the Defense Forces of Ukraine may receive laser weapons to combat Russian strike drones. This was stated by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Andriy Lebedenko, the PromPolitInform portal reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
According to Lebedenko, the development of projects related to the so-called “weapons of the future” continues in Ukraine. Both units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and private Ukrainian enterprises are involved in this work.
“It already exists today. There are manufacturers and teams, both within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and from the outside – private enterprises that manufacture laser weapons,” he noted.
The general added that Ukrainian developments are already capable of destroying FPV drones, and work is currently underway on their use to combat the Russian “Shaheeds”.
“It already knows how to shoot down FPV today, it is already working on the “Shaheeds” today. And this is the story of the next 2-3 months – we will have the same means that will allow us to hit air attack vehicles even better than machine guns,” Lebedenko said.
