“The main organizer of the event has been detained. He is suspected under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In the near future, the court will determine a preventive measure for him. Due to minor injuries, he is under escort in a medical facility,” wrote the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko in his Telegram channel. He also gave details of the event, during which 10 people died. According to him, one of the arms manufacturers’ associations, without coordination with the military command and administrations, organized a large-scale event with the participation of the military, representatives of state bodies, international partners and business. The event, in particular, was supposed to demonstrate air defense systems.
More than 300 people were invited to the open area. The nearest shelter with an area of only 34 square meters was located 100 meters from the event venue.
The invitation was sent nine days before the event, and the exact place and time were announced 24 hours ago. The investigation is checking whether these actions could have contributed to the fact that the Russian military had the opportunity to prepare a targeted strike.
As reported, on July 24, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike on a private facility in the Kyiv region, where an uncoordinated defense industry exhibition was taking place. As a result of the shelling, 10 people were killed and about 100 were injured.
