The first phase of freight terminal modernization has been completed at the Porubne – Siret road checkpoint. The next stage involves equipping the terminal with customs and border control facilities. This is reported by Economichna Pravda citing State Agency for Restoration, the portal PromPolitInform reports.

A contract has already been signed with a contractor to draft project and cost estimates. Following this, a procurement procedure will be announced to select the company that will install the technological equipment.
The first stage of the project has established the essential engineering infrastructure for the expanded freight terminal. Specifically, a border guard pavilion has been built, cement concrete pavement laid, and a stationary radiation control system installed.
Comprehensive reconstruction will increase throughput and improve logistics
The comprehensive modernization envisages the construction of four additional entry lanes into Ukraine. An organized waiting area for freight vehicles will also be arranged.
«The implementation of all project stages will significantly increase the throughput capacity of the Porubne – Siret checkpoint, shorten cargo clearance times, improve the efficiency of logistics routes, and strengthen Ukraine’s transport integration with the European Union», — the statement reads.
The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility program on a 50/50 co-financing basis using an EU CEF grant and the State Budget of Ukraine.
