Ukraine has handed over its proposals to the United States to increase pressure on Russia and bring peace closer. The document provides for expanded defense and air defense support. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine (Марія Науменко), the portal PromPolitInform reports.
The Ukrainian side has conveyed its vision of further steps aimed at ending hostilities to official Washington. Volodymyr Zelenskyy heard a report from the negotiating team and confirmed the transfer of the initiatives.
“We have handed over our proposals to the American side,” Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of American assistance in strengthening defense. The supply of air defense systems remains a key priority.
Washington can use its influence to put pressure on Moscow
Kyiv expects the United States to apply leverage over the Russian leadership. This should change the Kremlin’s plans and prevent the prolongation of the armed conflict.
“America can both help our defense, first of all with air defense, and pressure Russia so that plans are different, preparing the end of the war rather than dragging it out,” Zelenskyy noted.
Meanwhile, the US is preparing additional restrictive measures against Russia. A bipartisan bill on sanctions against Russia and Iran has already been submitted to the House of Representatives after Senate approval.
The bill provides for severe economic restrictions
The document covers sanctions factors against key Russian banking institutions. Investment restrictions and measures against the Kremlin’s transport “shadow fleet” are also proposed.
A separate provision of the bill is the authorization to introduce customs tariffs of up to 500% on Russian products.
