The Ministry of Digital Transformation is developing new requirements for telecom operators to ensure autonomous network operation. Companies will be required to prepare infrastructure for possible prolonged power outages. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform citing tehnofan.com.ua.
Officials are preparing updated regulations that provide for strengthening the resilience of telecommunications networks. The goal of the initiative is to ensure stable connectivity for the population even in the event of prolonged power outages.
Corresponding requirements establish new criteria for mobile operators regarding equipment autonomy. Companies must invest in additional power sources and uninterruptible power supply systems for base stations.
Technical standards will become mandatory for operators
The new regulation requires maintaining connectivity for a certain period after a complete power outage of the network. This will allow critical infrastructure and subscribers to remain connected when external power supply is lost.
It is expected that the implementation of these measures will prevent widespread disruptions in mobile internet and voice calls. The measures are part of the overall strategy to protect Ukraine’s digital resilience during martial law.
