Two tankers belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The United Arab Emirates has blamed the Iranian armed forces for the incident. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Reuters, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company reported an attack on two of its vessels during their transit through the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of August 13, 2026. UAE authorities have officially accused Iran of carrying out the incident.
This marks the second such event involving ADNOC assets within the last week. A previous attack on a vessel linked to the state energy company occurred on August 8.
ADNOC stated that the situation has been brought under control. Official sources have not released details regarding the extent of damage to the vessels, their cargo, or whether any crew members were injured.
Iran uses the strait for economic pressure
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE classified the actions of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as acts of piracy. The ministry emphasized that such attacks on commercial shipping are aimed at destabilizing energy security and represent a form of blackmail.
ADNOC representatives confirmed that significant damage was caused by unprovoked attacks on the company’s personnel and material assets. This development is forcing international bodies to refocus on maritime security in the region.
ADNOC is a key global producer of petroleum products, natural gas, and crude oil. Uninterrupted supply through the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical factor for the global energy market.
