A change of command is expected in the leadership of the 11th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which holds the line in the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk directions. Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi intends to appoint a new head of the unit.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Уляна Безпалько), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Emil Ishkulov is planned to be appointed as the commander of the corps. In this position, he is expected to replace Brigadier General Oleksii Maistrenko, who has led this military formation since April of this year.
Currently, Emil Ishkulov serves as the deputy commander of the 7th Army Corps of the Air Assault Forces. Previously, he commanded the 80th Separate Galician Air Assault Brigade.
During the Kursk operation in 2024, Emil Ishkulov refused to deploy his subordinate 80th brigade into the territory of the russian federation. Following this decision, the officer was dismissed from his post as brigade commander and transferred to his current position in the air assault forces.
Reasons for personnel changes in the army corps
The potential personnel decision is linked to the need to strengthen the defensive line in this direction. This is driven by the growing threats to Kramatorsk and Sloviansk from the russian occupying forces.
The decision could also have been influenced by Brigadier General Serhii Sobko, who previously headed the staff of the 11th Corps. Currently, he effectively serves as the right-hand man of Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi and could have conveyed a vision regarding the need to reinforce this direction with a new commander.
The situation in Donetsk Oblast remains difficult, as the russian army continues its attempts to reach the administrative borders of the region. The occupiers seek to advance further, creating threats for Kostiantynivka, as well as for Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
