Robert Shagieiev, who betrayed his oath in 2014 and joined the armed forces of the rf, died on August 13, 2026. The death of the captain of the first rank has been confirmed via records from the russian tax service. This was reported by russian-torturers.org, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The liquidation of the former Ukrainian officer was recorded in the russian registry of individuals, where his taxpayer identification number was moved to the list of invalid records. Prior to this, reports regarding a possible assassination attempt on the collaborator in occupied Sevastopol remained unconfirmed.

Circumstances of the betrayal and defection

Robert Shagieiev was appointed commander of the Zaporizhzhia submarine in 2013. During the occupation of Crimea by russian forces in the spring of 2014, the officer ignored orders to redeploy to Odesa and refused to bring the combat vessel into territory controlled by Ukraine.

In May 2014, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dismissed Shagieiev from his position for insubordination and breach of contract. He subsequently joined the russian Black Sea Fleet, where he served as deputy commander of the 4th Independent Submarine Brigade.

Legal consequences for the collaborator

Criminal proceedings were initiated against Shagieiev on charges of high treason and desertion. Ukrainian investigators classified his actions as switching to the enemy’s side during an armed conflict and intentional avoidance of military service.
