The criminals threatened an elderly couple with execution during the occupation of Morozivka village
The National Police in Kharkiv region has charged four servicemen of the Russian occupation army. They are accused of robbery and death threats against civilian pensioners committed in 2022. This was reported by Book of Torturers, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The suspects include platoon commander Mykola Hriaznov, driver Serhii Isak, machine gunner Bohdan Stetsenko, and grenadier Vladyslav Holovenko. All of them are members of the 202nd Rifle Regiment of the mobilization reserve of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
Circumstances of the crime in Morozivka
The incident occurred on July 20, 2022, when a group of soldiers arrived at the home of a 70-year-old woman and her 72-year-old husband in the village of Morozivka, Izium district. The armed occupiers, with the exception of the platoon commander who stayed by the vehicle, conducted an unauthorized search of the house.
The soldiers seized the couple’s property, including computer equipment, mobile phones, and an air rifle. The total damage caused to the victims is estimated at least 5514.52 hryvnias.
Torture and threats of execution
Following the robbery, the pensioners were accused of supporting the Ukrainian Defense Forces and were forcibly removed from their yard. Initially, the victims were taken to the village council building in Savyntsi, where they were intimidated with being sent to a torture chamber in Balakliia.
Subsequently, the victims were taken to the outskirts of Morozivka, where Serhii Isak pointed an automatic weapon at the civilians. The occupier simulated preparation for firing, threatening them with death if they did not comply with demands, after which he ordered the elderly couple to walk home.
Classification of offenses
The actions of these individuals were classified by investigators as a violation of the laws and customs of war, as provided for in Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These acts are a direct violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
The relevant criminal proceeding was registered in the autumn of 2022. Currently, the gathered evidence has allowed for the formal issuance of charges against all four members of the criminal group.
