The main stage of illegal voting featured masquerades at empty polling stations
In the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson Region, illegal elections to the State Duma of Russia took place with almost no voters present. Only isolated individuals showed up at the unlawfully created polling stations. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Oleh Baturin, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The invaders launched the so-called main stage of the illegal voting, which continued for the third consecutive weekend. To draw attention, they organized costumed performances and set up special themed locations at certain sites.
Specifically, Russian occupiers set up photo zones with wall carpets and Soviet paraphernalia at four pseudo-polling stations. The remaining voting locations looked standard, yet all of them remained deserted.
Low Turnout and Lack of Interest
Photo reports published by the organizers themselves revealed a complete absence of queues and low attendance. According to journalist Oleh Baturin, only single individuals attended the fake elections.
The primary visitors to these events were local collaborators and supporters of the occupation regime, including Ruslan Ahavev and Vasyl Rososhyk.
Manipulation of Territory Lists
Alongside organizing the process in the seized territories, Russian authorities resorted to further falsifications of voter lists.
The invaders included Ukrainian-controlled cities in Donetsk Region, such as Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Sviatohirsk, in the list of areas designated for voting in the Russian State Duma elections.
