FSB agent detained while preparing an ambush near a capital city gym
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a woman in Kyiv who was planning to liquidate an opposition activist on behalf of Russian intelligence. The suspect was preparing an attack on a man who had previously participated in combat operations against the Russian army. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator was a resident of the occupied city of Melitopol. The woman was recruited by Russian intelligence in exchange for the closure of a criminal case involving illegal drug possession. Before being sent to Ukraine, the agent underwent specialized training at an enemy base, where she learned to handle firearms and conduct clandestine operations.
Preparation for the assassination
The operative arrived in Kyiv via Belarus. In the capital, she frequently changed her place of residence, using special marks on door handles to detect unauthorized access to her rooms. She retrieved the firearm intended for the crime from a pre-arranged cache located in a local forest park.
Detention of the suspect
The target of the attack was a former Russian opposition figure who joined the Ukrainian Defense Forces in 2022 and worked as a kickboxing coach after being demobilized. Counter-intelligence officers intercepted the suspect while she was performing reconnaissance near the sports facility where the activist trained.
During a search of her hotel room, security officials seized a combat pistol with ammunition and a smartphone containing evidence of correspondence with her FSB handler. The identity of the curator has already been confirmed.
Legal proceedings
The detainee has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to high treason committed under martial law. The court has remanded her in custody without the possibility of bail. She faces up to life imprisonment with the confiscation of assets.
