Presidential advisor assures that Ukraine will not lose internet connectivity despite massive attacks on telecommunications infrastructure
Serhiy Beskrestnov, presidential advisor on technological defense development, assured that Ukraine will not lose internet connectivity despite Russian attacks on information network infrastructure. He explained that the country has maximally distributed internet channels, so only local outages are possible. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Катерина Коваль) citing Serhiy Beskrestnov, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Local Outages Instead of Total Internet Loss
Beskrestnov stated that despite shelling, the entire country — including regions and cities — will not lose internet access. Only local outages are possible, which providers, in the advisor’s view, will quickly restore.
Service Cost Increases Due to Repair Expenses
The advisor also warned of potential price increases for internet services. He noted this is necessary to compensate for costs of restoring damaged infrastructure.
Information Attacks and Warnings
Beskrestnov called on Ukrainians not to succumb to enemy information attacks. He recalled that the enemy previously scared people with lack of food and fuel, and now threatens the disappearance of the internet.
September 23 Attack on Data Centers
It was previously reported that on September 23, Russia launched a massive attack on data centers in Ukraine, attempting to disrupt air raid alert systems. One of the capital’s data centers was damaged, causing outages in UTELS and “Pavutyna” provider networks, affecting connectivity and access to certain services.
