The oldest among the honored Ukrainian scientists is 91 years old
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree granting lifetime state stipends to prominent figures in science. The state payments were awarded to eight Ukrainian scientists who have reached seventy years of age. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Office of the President of Ukraine.
The relevant decision was made on the basis of Presidential Decree No. 906/2011 dated September 10, 2011, which regulates the procedure for awarding state stipends to figures in science, education, culture, healthcare, and sports.
List of appointed lifetime stipend recipients
According to the document, lifetime payments will be awarded to Doctor of Technical Sciences Valentyn Bahatskyi and Doctors of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Oleksandr Zhuk, Anatolii Kaminskyi, Borys Kiforenko, and Volodymyr Koshmanenko.
The list of stipend recipients also includes Doctor of Biological Sciences Viacheslav Sichkar, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Petro Stapai, and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Oleksii Fedorus.
Peculiarities of state stipend payments
Among the honored scientists are laureates of the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine, the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, and other state awards.
For scientists who were previously granted a stipend for a fixed term, further payments will be made on a lifetime basis in accordance with the new decision.
