Fuel costs will depend on Donald Trump's policy and Tehran's actions
In October, the Ukrainian fuel market expects increased turbulence due to external political factors and the situation surrounding Iran. Price dynamics at filling stations will depend on the confrontation between US electoral strategies and the attempts of Middle Eastern producers to influence the market. This was reported by Delo.ua citing Naftorynok, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
At the end of September, global oil prices showed a decline against the backdrop of news about a possible dialogue between Washington and Tehran. As of September 25, Brent futures fell to 104.3 dollars per barrel, and West Texas Intermediate dropped to 92.41 dollars. Despite this, security threats in the Strait of Hormuz and the actions of Houthi rebels remain risk factors for the stability of energy supply.
Wholesale and retail price changes
In the domestic market of Ukraine, there is a heterogeneous trend. According to the Naftorynok consulting company, the average wholesale price of diesel fuel as of September 25 decreased by 1.98 UAH/l to 94.5 UAH/l. At the same time, A-95 gasoline in wholesale became cheaper by 1.38 UAH/l, reaching the mark of 82.36 UAH/l. Meanwhile, the retail cost of gasoline at gas stations increased slightly — by an average of 67 kopecks per liter, to 89.07 UAH/l, while the price of diesel fuel remained almost unchanged.
Factors of influence in October
Founder of the Prime group of companies Dmytro Lyoushkin notes that the market will be maximally unpredictable in October. The main driving forces will be Donald Trump’s intentions to contain prices before the Congressional elections and the counteraction of the Iranian side, which seeks to destabilize the mood of American voters. An additional challenge for logistics may be the hurricane season, which could limit oil exports from North and South America to Europe.
Autogas market
The liquefied gas market currently differs from previous years by the absence of active demand from farmers. Mykhailo Shuban from the Sintonec LPG trading system predicts the stabilization of autogas prices in October, as there are almost no seasonal orders from the agricultural sector. As of September 25, the average LPG price at gas stations was 43.86 UAH/l, which is 17 kopecks less compared to the data of September 18.
