The share of Geran-5 jet-powered UAVs in the raids has grown to 75 percent
Satellite imagery of the Tsymbulova drone port in Oryol Oblast shows large-scale construction works. New shelters, launchers, and warehouses for unmanned aerial vehicles are being built at the facility. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Stratehichna aviasiia.
Updated satellite data indicates continuous construction work at a military facility in Oryol Oblast of the russian federation over the past four weeks. A new site featuring eight dome-shaped shelters for jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles and an additional launcher has appeared near the launch positions. In addition, an asphalt base has been prepared to install eight more protective structures and two launch systems.
New shelters and infrastructure
Construction of six garages for strike drones, which were still being built at the beginning of September, has been completed at the military facility. Fourteen more new garage structures have been spotted along the access road. Surface-type shelters have been converted into underground structures, significantly increasing their resistance to hits. A football field has been built on the site of one of the storage facilities.
Protection from strikes and warehouses
Areas for six more new launchers have been completed near the existing launch sites for Geran-5 devices. Nearby, the construction of towers that can be used to stretch anti-drone nets for defense against Ukrainian drones and for communication transmission is underway. Heavy construction machinery is operating in the northeastern part on a previously unused plot, likely building new storage facilities.
Growing intensity of attacks
With an increase in the number of functioning storage facilities, fewer drones are left in the open air, making successful targeting of this facility even more difficult. Compared to the end of summer, when nearly a hundred UAVs were left in the open, the current number barely reaches a dozen. Meanwhile, the results of building more launchers are already noticeable: the share of Geran-5 drones among all UAVs launched against Kyiv is now about 75 percent compared to about 10 percent a month ago.
