Owners of luxury cars contributed over 237 million hryvnias to local budgets
During January – August 2026, the local budgets of Ukraine received 237.5 million hryvnias in transport tax. This figure is 58.7% higher than the revenue collected during the same period last year. This was reported by Головне управління ДПС у Київській області, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In the first eight months of 2026, the total amount of paid tax reached 237.5 million UAH, compared to 149.6 million UAH collected during the same period in 2025. These funds are fully credited to local budgets and can be allocated to infrastructure development or social programs.
Geography of tax revenues
The largest payments from luxury vehicle ownership were generated by several regions. The city of Kyiv led with 68.1 million UAH. The Dnipropetrovsk region contributed 21.3 million UAH, the Odesa region provided 17.9 million UAH, and the Kyiv region accounted for 17.5 million UAH.
Taxation criteria for premium vehicles
The tax applies to passenger cars that are no more than five years old and have a market value exceeding 3.2 million UAH. The fixed tax rate is set at 25,000 UAH per year for each vehicle that meets these criteria.
The tax authorities emphasize that the payment obligation rests solely with the registered owner of the vehicle. Individuals using a car via power of attorney or lease agreements are not subject to this tax. An updated list of taxable vehicles is released annually by the relevant ministry.
