Domestic products account for 91.2% of all military hardware codified in 2026
Since the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and approved for military deployment 1,678 new models of arms and equipment. The overwhelming majority — 1,530 items — were produced by Ukrainian defence sector enterprises. Ukrainian products accounted for 91.2% of all codified items. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
Defence ministry officials report a significant acceleration in the approval process for newly developed military hardware. Adopting modern weapon systems expands tactical operational capabilities on the front line for combat missions, intelligence gathering, logistics, and troop protection.
Codification Trends in Domestic Weaponry
Official approval metrics for domestically produced military hardware have increased continuously throughout the full-scale war. In 2022, the ministry codified 110 total models, of which 60 items (54.5%) were Ukrainian-made, while in 2023, domestic production accounted for 295 items (61.5%) out of 480 approved items.
In 2024, the domestic defence sector’s share rose to 1,051 items (74.6%) out of 1,409 processed items. During 2025, officials approved 2,050 total models, including 1,427 items (69.6%) developed and manufactured locally. As of 25 September 2026, the domestic equipment share reached a record 91.2%, marking a 25.5-fold increase compared to the first year of the full-scale invasion.
Adapting Production to Frontline Conditions
Overall, the proportion of Ukrainian-made models among codified weaponry has grown by 67.3% since the full-scale invasion began. Manufacturers rapidly adapt their products to changing battlefield conditions based on direct feedback from front-line personnel.
Unmanned aerial vehicles represent a significant segment of these approvals. As of 22 September, the defence ministry has codified 650 unmanned aerial systems of various types since the start of the year, most of which were designed by Ukrainian engineers.
