The supplement amounts range from 596 to 5055 hryvnias depending on the recipient status
The Pension Fund of Ukraine automatically recalculated the rates of supplements for special merits to the state starting January 1, 2026. The updated amounts are based on the current subsistence minimum of 2595 UAH. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Payments for special merits are provided based on the relevant law and apply to citizens who have achieved outstanding professional results or performed heroic deeds. This financial support is an addition to the base pension amount for age, disability, years of service, or loss of a breadwinner.
Categories of supplement recipients
The list of individuals eligible for such assistance includes Heroes of Ukraine, knights of the Order of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, and citizens who received the title of “People’s” or “Honored” after the declaration of independence. The list also includes war veterans recognized for personal courage, prominent Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and world and European champions. Other categories include astronauts, flight test crew members, mothers with five or more children, and rehabilitated fighters for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century.
Calculation of payments for 2026
The monthly supplement amount depends on the category and is determined as a percentage of the subsistence minimum for individuals who have lost their working capacity. For most recipients, this figure ranges from 23% to 40%. Specifically, Heroes of Ukraine receive a supplement of 1038 UAH, which corresponds to 40% of the subsistence minimum. For rehabilitated independence fighters, according to regulatory requirements, a separate fixed payment rate has been established, which amounts to 5055.77 UAH as of January 1, 2026.
Rights of family members
The legislation also provides a mechanism for granting assistance to non-working family members in the event of the death of a person eligible for such a pension. If there is one such family member, the payment is 70% of the deceased person’s supplement, and if there are two or more, it is 90%.
Similar rules apply to the families of military personnel, law enforcement officers, and rescuers who died while performing their duties and were posthumously awarded state honors. For these categories, the supplement calculation is based on the payment rates established for Heroes of Ukraine.
