The share of domestic production in consumption fell to 31.8%
In the first nine months of 2026, about 163,500 tonnes of polymer-coated steel were imported into Ukraine. These figures were released by the Modul-Ukraina company in its analytical report. This was reported by Metal, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The main sources of metal products on the market remain the countries of the European Union, Vietnam, and South Korea. Turkey also demonstrates stable import indicators.
Dynamics of consumption and production
Company analysts state that active imports of foreign rolled products are intensifying price competition within the country. In 2025, the volume of imports reached 187,000 tonnes, while domestic plants produced 116,000 tonnes of products.
For the current year, experts expect an increase in imports to 190,000 tonnes. In parallel, domestic production is projected to grow to 122,000 tonnes of steel.
Share of Ukrainian goods on the market
Statistics show a decrease in the presence of domestic metal in total consumption: this figure fell from 38.2% last year to 31.8% in the first three quarters of 2026. According to forecasts, by the end of the year, this share should recover to 39.1%.
Among the main obstacles to the development of the national industrial sector, manufacturers cite the increased cost of energy resources. Security factors related to war risks also continue to have a significant impact on the operation of enterprises.
