The US administration is moving closer to organizing trilateral negotiations
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that there are no signs of a quick end to the war in Ukraine through negotiations. According to him, it is currently difficult to determine whether a peaceful resolution of the armed conflict is achievable. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Сергій Козачук), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Washington emphasizes that at this moment there are no prerequisites for a rapid settlement of the situation at the negotiating table. The official stressed that the American side is trying to clarify the real state of affairs.
Statements by American officials
«I do not know if a peaceful negotiated path is achievable in Ukraine. That is what we are trying to find out. I do not think anyone here is arguing that we are on the verge of a negotiated settlement», Rubio noted.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump earlier expressed the opinion that hostilities could end much earlier than expected. The American leader made a corresponding statement during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
Preparation for trilateral talks
In addition, the United States reported progress toward launching a trilateral format for discussing the Ukrainian issue. In particular, House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke about the high readiness of the Trump administration to organize such a process.
