Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand stated her position to Lavrov during G20 meeting

The diplomat used the summit platform to condemn the aggression and war crimes of the rf

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand used her participation in the G20 summit to personally voice her condemnation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine to Sergey Lavrov. She focused on the abduction of Ukrainian children and the systematic enemy strikes on civilian objects. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

During the G20 meeting held last week in Atlanta, the Canadian diplomat sat at the same table as the representative of the aggressor country. Anita Anand emphasized that she personally would not have initiated any contact with the Russian Foreign Minister, but used the multilateral event format for direct communication.

The issue of deportation and shelling

During the conversation, the official stressed the unacceptability of the actions of the rf, which carry the hallmarks of war crimes. In particular, she referred to the forced removal of Ukrainian minors, the intentional destruction of energy facilities, and the constant shelling of residential areas. The minister characterized the behavior of the Russian side as completely irresponsible.

Black Sea security and energy

In addition to the confrontation with the Russian minister, Anita Anand discussed with the head of the Indian foreign ministry the prospects for establishing a ceasefire regime in the Black Sea. The proposal includes extending the ceasefire agreements to critical infrastructure, including nuclear energy facilities.

In the context of future G20 events, it has become known that the next summit will take place in November in Manchester. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has already emphasized that Vladimir Putin will not be invited to the event.
