Sappers also inspected 40 km of railways and almost 7 km of motor roads
Throughout October 2026, defence ministry specialists surveyed and cleared 1,804 hectares of de-occupied land from mines and unexploded ordnance. During this period, hundreds of explosive remnants of war were located and neutralised. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, based on data from Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety.
Demining experts focused most of their operations on agricultural land resources, alongside vital logistics routes in the liberated regions.
In particular, 459.55 hectares of farmland were completely freed of explosive hazards and returned to safe civilian use.
Clearing transport corridors and infrastructure
Beyond rural fields, the detachments checked road networks, ensuring safe transit along 6.87 kilometres of vehicular highways.
Rail logistics received equal priority, with teams examining and clearing 40.1 kilometres of railway tracks over the month.
Monthly summaries recorded the neutralisation of between 336 and 366 munitions. Since the launch of the full-scale Russian invasion, military engineers have dismantled 483,702 explosive items.
Deployed forces and operational pace
Demining tasks in the liberated districts are carried out by specialised crews from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service.
The October figures exceeded the previous month’s achievements: in September, sappers inspected over 1,300 hectares and neutralised 364 explosive hazards.
