Traffic along the R-280 highway halted following the attack
A strike involving FP-2 targeted a bridge over the Mius River in Russia's Rostov region. The structure serves as a critical logistics route for the occupying forces. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Crimean Wind.
Following the damage to the bridge structure, Russian authorities completely closed vehicular traffic on the R-280 highway. Local Russian officials claimed the infrastructural damage was caused by falling debris.
Strategic Value of the R-280 Highway
The R-280 ‘Novorossiya’ highway connects the Rostov region with occupied Ukrainian territories, linking the area to Mariupol, Berdiansk, Melitopol, and the Crimean peninsula.
This transport corridor acts as a major supply artery for Russian military units and functions as an overland alternative to the Kerch Strait Bridge.
Impact on the Land Corridor
The total extent of the damage to the bridge crossing has not yet been disclosed. The timeframe required to complete repairs and restore normal traffic flow along the highway remains unknown.
