Russian drones destroy Ovruch power substation in Zhytomyr region

The community prepares for prolonged outages due to the complete destruction of the energy facility

Multiple enemy drone strikes have completely destroyed the Ovruch electrical substation in the Zhytomyr region. Local authorities have warned residents to prepare for a prolonged period without power supply. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Катерина Коваль) citing Ivan Korud, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Ovruch Mayor Ivan Korud confirmed the critical damage to the energy infrastructure facility. Restoration work, he noted, will be complex and will require a significant amount of time.

Blackout and light discipline

In addition to power supply issues, the head of the community emphasized safety measures. Residents, business owners, and private homeowners have been urged to strictly observe light discipline during dark hours.

The requirement involves fully turning off outdoor advertising, facade lighting, and shop windows. As Ivan Korud pointed out, every light source that can be turned off must be switched off to reduce the overall visibility of objects to the enemy.

Attacks on the energy system in other regions

Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been systematically targeted by rf strikes over recent days. On November 7, following further attacks, more than 60,000 consumers in Dnipro were temporarily left without electricity.

Previously, on the night of November 4, enemy drones damaged an energy facility in the western part of the country. Furthermore, hits on infrastructure objects were reported, causing fires in the private sector of Dnipro and the city of Samar.
