President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law establishing a nationwide minute of silence at the state level and honoring the memory of compatriots who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
This was reported by the website of the parliament, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
The bill provides for the establishment of a nationwide minute of silence for compatriots who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It is held daily at 9:00.
Also, every year on the fourth Saturday of November at 16:00 a nationwide minute of silence and the action “Light a candle” will be held.
What preceded it?
- Since February 2025, a nationwide minute of silence has been announced in the Kyiv metro every day at 09:00.
- Since September 2025, in Kyiv, every day at 9:00 on Khreshchatyk, traffic is stopped during a nationwide minute of silence, but the restriction does not apply during an air raid.
- Also in Bucha, Kyiv region, traffic is blocked daily at 9:00 at the intersection of Polevaya and Energetikov streets during a nationwide minute of silence.
- The Verkhovna Rada adopted the corresponding bill on February 11, 2026.
