The Ministry of Defense will be able to quickly purchase new technologies, test them in combat conditions and scale the most effective solutions for the front.
The government has launched an experimental project of a new model for the procurement of innovative solutions for the needs of defense, saidMinister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“In a modern war, the one who quickly introduces new technologies wins,” Fedorov emphasized.
According to him, previously there was no separate procedure that would allow the Ministry of Defense to purchase innovative developments specifically for testing in the troops, so new solutions got to the front unsystematically.
Now the Ministry of Defense gets the right to quickly purchase innovative products according to a simplified procedure, and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – to conduct its combat testing and make decisions on efficiency.
“Solutions proven in battle get a way to be included in the supply demand,” the minister said.
We are talking about innovative products, technologies, software and other solutions that can strengthen the capabilities of the troops now.
According to Fedorov, the new mechanism should shorten the path from development to application, allow faster response to the needs of the front and build systemic feedback between the military and developers.
“Our task is to ensure that the most effective technologies get into the army as quickly as possible and scale,” he stressed.
