The Rada does not increase the salaries of the military. The People’s Deputy on the reasons

The increase in payments to Ukrainian defenders is under threat of disruption due to technical and political obstacles in the parliament. The legislation still does not allow raising the salaries of active military personnel without automatically increasing payments to pensioners, and alternative initiatives of the opposition are being ignored. As Noviny.LIVE informs, this was stated on the air of Ranok.LIVE by the People’s Deputy from the “European Solidarity” Iryna Friz. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

The salaries of military personnel cannot be increased due to the relevant laws that have not been adopted

According to her, the first and most important problem lies in the technical and financial aspects. The current legislation has not yet been adapted in such a way that it would be possible to increase payments directly to active military personnel without automatically increasing pensions to military pensioners. The lack of such a distinction requires enormous funds, which slows down the entire process.

“Because we have a wrong situation when the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee does not consider legislative initiatives from deputies if they do not have support from one or another entity of the defense security sector in the given context of the Ministry of Defense,” the MP said.

The MP emphasized that representatives of the opposition have already registered a number of initiatives. They concern not only an increase in salaries taking into account the level of inflation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but also the establishment of clear terms of service. These projects even contain calculations of the necessary resources, but they are simply not included in the parliamentary agenda.

According to Iryna Friz, the government should stop just talking about expectations and immediately make the necessary legislative changes or support the already ready-made developments of the MPs.

“Let them analyze what the deputies have already registered and are introducing, because further delay in increasing salaries for the military, further delay in introducing clear terms of service, it actually also directly affects the issue of mobilization,” Iryna Friz noted.

As previously reported, the People’s Deputies voted for a bill to tax citizens’ income from digital platforms. Thus, the tax will also be imposed on the income that citizens receive through digital platforms, for example, marketplaces, transportation services or online services.
