Zelensky admitted to German journalists that Ukraine has an acute shortage of missiles for Patriot. One of the reasons is the war in the Middle East.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced a critical shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems in an interview with the German television channel ZDF, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
According to the head of state, the protracted war in Iran already has negative consequences for Ukraine and may affect the volume of military assistance.
“If the war lasts longer, there will be fewer weapons for Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
Speaking about the provision of air defense systems, the president noted the acute shortage of missiles for Patriot.
“We now have just such a deficit that it can no longer be worse,” he said.
Zelensky also stressed that the war in Iran is a challenge not only for the United States and Israel, but for the whole world.
Separately, the president said that Ukraine is ready to help the United States in the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, referring to the experience of unblocking the Black Sea.
“The Strait of Hormuz is blocked, and we want to unlock it; we already have experience in blocking the Black Sea. America has not yet addressed us,” he added.
Earlier, Western media reported that due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East, the supply of weapons to Ukraine could be reduced, in particular, we are talking about missiles for Patriot batteries. At the same time, on April 10, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had recently received a new batch of missiles for these air defense systems.
Meanwhile, Berlin defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany agreed on April 14 that Germany will allocate 4 billion euros for Patriot missiles, long-range capabilities and joint production of drones.
