The meeting will be held on April 20. The Russian attack on April 16 claimed at least 15 lives, including a child, in Kyiv, Odessa and Dnipro. More than 100 people were injured across the country.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga said that Ukraine is initiating a discussion of another massive Russian attack at a meeting of the UN Security Council, which is scheduled for Monday, April 20, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“Russia’s wave of terror against Ukraine is not accidental, but is part of its military strategy. The targets continue to be residential buildings with sleeping families, as well as critical infrastructure necessary for the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians,” the minister said.
According to him, such attacks are planned in advance. Sibiga stressed that when Ukraine offered to extend the Easter truce and give diplomacy a chance, the Russian leadership had already approved plans for further attacks on civilians.
“This attack claimed at least 15 lives, including a child, in Kyiv, Odessa and Dnipro. More than 100 people were injured throughout the country,” the Foreign Minister said.
He noted that Russian cruelty requires an immediate and decisive international response, in particular from the UN Security Council.
“At the meeting of the Council, scheduled for Monday, April 20, at the request of Ukraine, we will raise the issue of the need for a tough reaction of the UN Security Council to state terror from Russia, a country that still illegally occupies its permanent place,” Sibiga said.
The minister also called on the international community to maintain unity in supporting Ukraine, increase pressure on the aggressor and work to bring Russia to justice.
“Together, we must restore respect for international law, including the UN Charter, putting an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Sibiga concluded.
