Israel received more than two cargoes with agricultural products stolen by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
This was announced during a conversation with journalists by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tykhy, Ukrinform reports, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“I can confirm that we are not talking about two ships, there were more. I cannot give exact figures now, but we are talking about several vessels. It is true. And we informed Israel about them all,” the spokesman said.
According to Tykhi, Ukraine appealed to Israel through closed channels, but after “dozens” of appeals received only one official response from the Israeli Foreign Ministry on April 20.
“If it is reduced to a simple result, then we are talking about the fact that the State of Israel is not going to take any actions regarding these cargoes and Ukrainian concerns, it believes that Ukrainian information is insufficient for them. Our public activity is connected with this,” the diplomat said.
EU considers sanctions against Israel
The European Union is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against individuals and legal entities of Israel, which help the aggressor country of Russia to circumvent the sanctions. This was announced by the speaker of the European Commission Anouar El-Anouni in a commentary to Haaretz on April 27.
According to him, the EU took note of reports that the ship of the Russian “shadow fleet,” which was carrying stolen Ukrainian grain, received permission to unload in the port of Haifa in Israel, despite Ukraine’s previous contacts with the Israeli authorities on this issue.
The European Union condemns all actions that contribute to the financing of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and “is ready to take measures against such actions, putting, if necessary, individuals and legal entities from third countries on the sanctions list,” he added.
- Recall that a ship arrived in the Israeli port of Haifa, which, according to the Ukrainian side, can carry grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
- Earlier, Israel has already allowed the unloading of a similar vessel on April 14.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Israeli ambassador to hand over a note of protest over a ship with Ukrainian grain that was stolen by Russia in the occupied territories.
- Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that “the accusations are not evidence,” commenting on the situation with the admission of ships with Ukrainian grain stolen by Russia.
