Ukraine has declared its readiness for the next stage of European integration and the opening of negotiation clusters with the European Union. Kyiv is counting on rapid progress in the accession process.
Financial support and preparations for the winter period were discussed separately. As OBOZ.UA reports, this was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
Thus, the head of state held a meeting with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, during which the parties discussed the progress of Ukraine’s European integration.
The key topic was the opening of negotiation clusters within the framework of the accession process to the European Union.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is technically fully ready to open all six negotiation clusters.
“We discussed our European integration with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa. We expect to open all six negotiation clusters this and next month. Technically, Ukraine is fully ready,” the president said.
Separately, the president thanked Antonio Costa for his support for Ukraine and his personal efforts in unlocking the 90 billion euro financial assistance package.
According to Zelensky, it is important that these funds be allocated as soon as possible, as they are critically needed to prepare Ukraine for the winter period.
“I thank Antonio for his support and for his personal efforts in unlocking the 90 billion euro financial assistance package. It is important that the funds start flowing as soon as possible and help Ukraine prepare for the winter,” the president summed up.
Recall that during the meeting of EU leaders, Zelensky addressed the participants of the meeting of heads of state and government of the European Union and stated Ukraine’s desire to accelerate its accession to the EU. He stressed the need to determine a clear date for the start of this process.
As previously reported, German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz believes that Ukraine’s full-fledged accelerated accession to the European Union is unlikely. According to him, now it can only be about “close integration” without the right to vote in the meetings of the European Council.
