Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of July 18, 2026 – the 1,606th day of the war – have destroyed a Tu-95 strategic bomber and approximately 1,427,410 occupiers, including 1,420 over the last day.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as conveyed by the Prompoliteinform portal.
On July 17, 2026, the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) destroyed a russian Tu-95 strategic bomber at the “Engels” airfield in the Saratov region of the russian federation – nearly 800 km from Ukraine’s state border. According to preliminary data from the SBU, the strike completely tore off the tail section of the aircraft. The russians used this aircraft for massive missile strikes against Ukraine.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have destroyed and put out of action 11 russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers as of July 18, 2026. The largest number was destroyed during Operation “Web” on June 1, 2025, during a massive attack by Ukrainian drones on their home airfields (including “Belaya” and “Olenya”). At that time, the destruction of 8 russian Tu-95MS bombers was confirmed.
