Mykhailo Fedorov advocates for finding safe mechanisms to hold elections during wartime

An effective and secure mechanism for holding elections under martial law should be developed in Ukraine. This was stated by Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov, emphasizing the need to guarantee the right to vote for all citizens.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Іван Носальський), according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Citizens must have a legal opportunity to choose their government despite ongoing hostilities. Such processes cannot depend on the decisions of the enemy.

The democratic system must not depend on the actions of Russia, as the state is defending precisely its right to remain a free European country. It is necessary to find a solution that will ensure full voting for military personnel, millions of refugees abroad, and residents of frontline areas.

The need for security guarantees and trust

Absolute safety of participants, independence of state institutions, and a high level of public trust in the final results must become mandatory conditions for voting. The Ukrainian state has repeatedly accomplished tasks that international partners considered impossible.

Society cannot function for a long time in conditions of a lack of transparency in managerial decision-making. Citizens must understand the logic behind reforms and the implementation of initiatives necessary for the frontline.

“People cannot endlessly live in a state where they do not know why certain decisions are made, why some reforms are pushed forward while others are blocked, and why decisions needed at the front today spend months wandering through offices,” Mykhailo Fedorov said.

According to him, under such conditions, the population develops a false impression of the superiority of loyalty over the professionalism of officials. Such a management model is unacceptable for a modern state system.
