Single pensioners aged 80 and over who require constant outside care can receive monthly assistance in the amount of 1038 hryvnias. The payment is granted provided there are no able-bodied relatives who, by law, are required to provide support. This was reported by Socportal citing Departament Sotsialnoho Zakhystu Sumskoi Oblasti, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The amount of aid is 40% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work. It is important to distinguish between this state social support and the compensation payment for the elderly, which amounts to up to 570 hryvnias and is accrued under separate rules effective March 1, 2026.
Conditions for receiving aid and criteria for being single
Citizens who have reached the age of 80 and are receiving an old-age pension or a pension based on military service may be eligible for additional funds. A mandatory condition is a conclusion from a medical advisory commission regarding the need for constant outside supervision.
The status of a single person is determined not by the fact of living alone, but by the absence of able-bodied relatives. The presence of adult children can be a reason for denial of the payment, even if they are abroad or live separately.
Application procedure through social services
To be granted the payment, the pensioner must submit a relevant application to the social protection authorities at their place of residence or through a center for the provision of administrative services. During the application review, the medical certificate and the citizen’s marital status are verified.
