The restricted resources include pages of cultural figures and a Russian IT company
The YouTube video platform has restricted access for users in Ukraine to 31 channels belonging to Russian artists, propagandists, and sanctioned companies. The move was implemented at the initiative of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Counci, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The updated list of blocked resources primarily covers pages of performers and cultural figures who publicly support aggression against Ukraine, participate in propaganda events, or are listed in the NSDC sanctions lists. In addition to personal pages, the corporate channel of the Russian software developer Kaspersky russia has also been restricted.
Personalities under restrictions
The blocked resources include channels of Filipp Kirkorov, Grigory Leps, Sergey Lazarev, and Valeriya. Access has also been terminated to pages of Larisa Dolina, Irina Allegrova, Anna Netrebko, and Vasily Gerello.
Restrictions also affected the Pelageya band and Denis Maydanov. Additionally, the channel of Yulia Chicherina, who has repeatedly made anti-Ukrainian statements, has been blocked.
Content policy
The Center for Countering Disinformation noted that these resources were used as tools of information influence. They were engaged in glorifying war criminals and justifying the actions of the armed forces of the russian federation on Ukrainian territory.
This is not the first case of access restriction to such content. Previously, the video hosting service had already removed or restricted access to 25 channels belonging to individuals and organizations currently under sanctions.
