The average micro-loan size grew to 9,200 hryvnias in the first half of the year
The market of micro-financial organizations in Ukraine is undergoing a transformation, prioritizing transparent conditions and service quality over the speed of issuing funds. In the first half of 2026, 4.2 million agreements were concluded for a total of 37.5 billion hryvnias. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Сергій Сінченко) citing Moneyveo, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In the current market environment, the speed of loan processing has become an industry standard, meaning it is no longer the decisive factor for borrowers. Instead, consumers increasingly value clear terms, simplicity of interaction with the company, and convenient repayment options.
Criteria for selecting financial services
According to research, the significance of transparency and the simplicity of agreement processing grew by 8 percentage points each over the past year. The convenience of the repayment process became 6 points more important, while technical aspects, such as mobile applications, showed a smaller increase in significance — only 2 points.
Digital tools are now viewed merely as supportive means for ensuring effective communication. Clients expect from MFOs a predictable and secure path from application to final loan closure, where data security is perceived as an mandatory basic requirement.
Market dynamics
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the volume of the micro-lending market reached 37.5 billion hryvnias during the first six months of 2026. The number of signed agreements remained stable, yet the average loan size grew significantly, reaching 9,200 hryvnias, which is one and a half times more compared to previous periods.
For market participants, this signifies a shift in the competitive paradigm, where transparency is the baseline standard for responsible lending. In 2026–2027, the main struggle will revolve around eliminating bureaucratic barriers and improving the quality of client support throughout the entire service usage period.
