Ukrainian troops also damaged six bridges and destroyed over 20 supply depots
Throughout August 2026, the Defence Forces of Ukraine continued their systematic campaign to target the operational rear and military-economic potential of the Russian forces. Utilizing middle-strike assets, Ukrainian troops inflicted heavy damage on the enemy's air defences, logistics, and command systems. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and units of the Defence Forces are working systematically to intensify strikes deeper into the enemy’s operational rear. The destruction of radar stations, air defence systems, and electronic warfare units paves the way for subsequent attacks on the deep rear of the Russian forces. Additionally, destroying bridges complicates Russian logistics, while hitting ammunition depots and command posts lowers the overall combat readiness of their units.
Neutralizing Russian Air Defences and EW Systems
To ensure the unhindered operation of Ukrainian strike assets, the destruction of Russian air defences continued throughout August. Positions of S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems were hit in Gelendzhik and the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. Other targeted systems included Pantsir in Yeysk, Tor in the Rostov region, Buk-M3 in the Luhansk region, and Strela-10 near Kreminna.
Furthermore, the Defence Forces destroyed several critical enemy radar stations. Among them were the long-range Nebo-U radar in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, the Nebo-SV radar, as well as Kasta and Podlyot stations. Ukrainian troops also struck Russian electronic warfare complexes, including Peresvet-M in Luhansk.
Disrupting Logistics Arteries and Depots
Ukrainian forces continued to strike key transport nodes used by the occupying forces. Railway bridges in the Chonhar area (Syvash), near Vladyslavivka, and Svitlodolynske came under fire. Road bridges over the Seim River in the Kursk region and the Molochna River in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as a crossing over the Mokri Yaly River in the Donetsk region, were also damaged.
In addition to transport infrastructure, Ukrainian forces struck more than 20 material and ammunition depots. Attacks were also launched against Russian repair bases located in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the border regions of the Russian Federation.
Striking UAV Bases and Command Posts
August saw systematic efforts to detect and strike Russian sites associated with unmanned aerial vehicles and uncrewed surface vessels. Specifically, a base for Russian naval drones was hit in Chornomorske. Ukrainian forces carried out over 30 strikes on command posts, storage sites, and launch pads of attack UAVs in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, the Donetsk region, and Crimea.
To degrade the enemy’s ability to coordinate drone attacks, several ground relays for controlling Geran/Gerbera-type strike drones were disabled. Middle-strike assets also targeted Russian command structures, including the main and reserve command posts in Donetsk, an FSB unit in Shchaslyvtseve, and a UAV training center in Luhansk.
