Russian aviation set a record by dropping 8,766 guided aerial bombs in a single month
In August 2026, Russian forces maintained high-intensity combat operations across the entire frontline, resulting in 7,115 clashes. At the same time, the occupation aviation dropped 8,766 guided aerial bombs, marking the highest monthly figure since the start of the full-scale invasion. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, based on data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Along the entire frontline last month, an average of nearly 230 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defence Forces and Russian invaders were recorded daily.
In addition, enemy forces carried out more than 98,000 artillery and other attacks against Ukrainian positions. In terms of firepower scale, August remained at the level of the most intense periods of this year.
Record Number of Guided Aerial Bombs
The Russian military command significantly increased the use of tactical aviation. The total of 8,766 dropped bombs exceeded the records of previous summer months.
For comparison, Russian forces deployed 8,266 such munitions in June and over 8,300 in July.
Arrival of JAS 39 Gripen Fighters
To counter Russian air pressure, Ukraine anticipates the first batch of Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. These aircraft will be supplied alongside Meteor long-range air-to-air missiles.
Receiving this weaponry will enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Force to counter enemy carriers of guided aerial bombs.
